Well my CGI experience is pretty limited but when I saw that it takes 5+ hours on the Amtrak to cover the 340km from San Diego to Santa Barbara I thought of the Nozomi Shikansen - 2hr 24min for the 520km from Tokyo to Shin Osaka.
